Home movers

A local house removal company you can trust

Moving house is one of the biggest days of the year, so we plan every detail before we arrive. Since 2010 our Southampton team has moved flats, terraces and family homes across the city and Hampshire, from Shirley and Bitterne to Eastleigh, Hedge End and Totton.

Before the day, we check stairs, parking and access at both addresses, then send the right size crew and van. Every item is wrapped before it leaves your home. At the other end we put each piece in the room you choose and rebuild any furniture we took apart.

Completion-day moves and chains

Most house moves in England happen on completion day, when keys are often released around lunchtime. We plan around that. We load your old home in the morning, keep everything safe in the van, and unload as soon as the keys are in your hand. If your chain is delayed, we can hold your belongings and move them into storage until your new home is ready.

Who we move

We move first-time buyers out of city-centre flats, families upsizing in Bassett and Chilworth, landlords between tenancies, and older homeowners downsizing to somewhere smaller. Much of our work now comes from repeat customers and word of mouth. That's why we keep the same friendly team on each job instead of agency staff.

Local know-how

Moving house in Southampton: what local movers know

Southampton has its own moving challenges. After 15 years of house moves from our base on Hill Lane, this is what we plan for.

M27 · M271 · M3

Routes in and out

Most of our Hampshire moves use the M27 towards Eastleigh, Hedge End and Fareham, the M271 to Totton and Romsey, and the M3 to Chandler's Ford and Winchester. We time departures to avoid Itchen Bridge and Northam Bridge queues at rush hour.

Terraces & flats

Narrow streets and stairs

The Victorian terraces of Portswood, Shirley and Freemantle often mean narrow hallways, steep stairs and no driveway. Our crews dismantle large furniture in the room, and we bring the right number of movers so the van is never left unattended.

Waterfront

Apartments with lifts

Many apartments in Ocean Village and the city centre have shared lifts, loading bays and building managers. We help you book the lift and protect the walls and floors in communal areas.

Parking tip: if there's no driveway or the street has permit-only parking, apply to Southampton City Council to suspend a parking bay for moving day. Apply as early as you can, then tell us the location and we'll plan the loading around it.

I used this to move within Southampton, and then out of Southampton a few years later, and both times it was a very positive experience. From first message to the last box leaving the truck, I was assured about the move, fragile items were carefully put in blankets, and the movers on the day were so pleasant!

FAQs

House removals FAQs

How much do house removals cost in Southampton?

Every house removal is quoted as one fixed price, agreed before moving day. Your quote depends on the size of your home, the number of movers, the van size, the distance and access, such as stairs and parking. Send your addresses and moving date for a free fixed quote, usually the same day.

How many movers do I need for a house move?

Most one-bed flats need two movers. Two- and three-bed houses need two or three, and four-bed homes usually need three or four movers with two Luton vans.

How long does a house removal take?

A one-bed flat usually takes 2 to 4 hours, a three-bed house 5 to 8 hours, and larger homes a full day. The exact time depends on access, how much is packed and the distance between homes.

Can you move me on completion day?

Yes. We can load your old home in the morning and unload as soon as your keys are released. If the chain is delayed, we can hold your belongings or take them to storage until your new home is ready.

Do you dismantle and reassemble furniture?

Yes. We take apart beds, wardrobes and tables and put them back together at your new home, so your beds are ready on the first night.

Do you provide packing and boxes?

Yes. We can supply boxes, tape, bubble wrap and blankets, and offer full or part packing the day before or on moving day.

Are my belongings insured during the move?

Yes. Every house removal includes goods in transit and public liability cover from collection to delivery.

How far ahead should I book a house removal?

Two to four weeks ahead is ideal. Book earlier for Fridays, weekends and the end of the month, when most completions and tenancy changes happen. For urgent moves, call us, as we often have short-notice slots.

Do I need a parking permit for the removal van in Southampton?

If there is no driveway or the street has permit-only parking, apply to Southampton City Council to suspend a parking bay for moving day. Apply as early as you can, then tell us where the van can park.

Do you move houses outside Southampton?

Yes. We move homes across Hampshire, including Eastleigh, Chandler's Ford, Hedge End, Totton, Romsey and Winchester, and long distance anywhere in the UK.
